Overstudy: Janet

"Hi, my name is Carrie Dahlby. I play Janet and Magenta for Transvestite Soup. I’ve also, at times, played a Transylvanian, the Criminologist, Dr. Scott, Riff Raff, and I’ve even played Columbia once in another cast. I enjoy playing Betty Hapschatt in Shock Treatment when I get the chance (Shock Treatment is the sequel, for lack of a better term, to Rocky Horror). I’m also a member of the Pink Invaders cast in Merillville, Indiana, and I’m on the staff for Crazed Imaginations, the only international, monthly Rocky Horror print fanzine out there.

I’ve been in Transvestite Soup continuously for over 3 years, with no signs of stopping anytime soon (even though I’ve moved to Illinois). For the first time since I’ve been on cast, everyone gets along, and it’s great. We’ve got a lot of new talent on the cast…. And I’m very honored to be one of the Janets in a cast with so many talented Janets. (And some of the finest Magentas on the planet…. kiss up kiss up).

I have a degree in music performance, vocal emphasis (essentially, I’m an opera singer) and a minor in theatre arts from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. In my spare time, when I have any, I like to sing, pretend to be employed, read, sew, listen to music and good talk radio, watch movies, pursue as many artsy pursuits as possible, and ponder my life and try to decide where to go from here. Also, I like to spend time with my hot Rocky boyfriend Jeff Gamiln. He, like me, is in the Pink Invaders and on the staff at Crazed Imaginations, as well as being a member of Midnight Madness in Chicago, Illinois.

Some interests include: the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Monkees (particularly Mike Nesmith), the color pink, TV shows Red Dwarf, MST3K, Conan O’Brien, and the Prisoner, cats (the animal, not the musical) and radio talk show hosts Tommy Mischke and Art Bell."
